Linux’s Virtual Consoles

Linux is a multiuser Operating System. Hence one may have other terminals connected to the serial ports of the system. Linux provides the access to virtual consoles, basically console means the monitor and keyboard connection to the system. Linux’s virtual console lets you to have more than one login on the console at a time. It allows different login sessions as same time. Just press Alt+F2 and the the prompt will appear, in case you need second Virtual Console For switching back Just press Alt+F1. Alt with each function key allows you to enable a virtual console. You may enable more than 12 VCs one for each function key and can switch to the last one just press that function key with Alt. You may switch between multiple virtual consoles for accessing unrelated user interfaces.
